July 8, 2015 marked the arrival of the newest Southwest Airlines flight to arrive in Nayarit and Jalisco: a planeload of visitors from Orange County, California, were greeted at the Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport with a welcome cocktail and a press conference. This latest flight represents an increase in tourism benefits for both the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta.
Southwest Airlines took advantage of the reception to reconfirm two other new routes: one from Houston starting October 15th and another from Denver starting on November 1st of this year.
“It’s unusual for an airline to open a new destination and then double—and in this case triple—the number of flights as quickly as 
we’re doing in Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit,” added Hurtado.
